Inspiring creativity, celebrating talent and encouraging the next generation of textile designers and makers!
At the Textiles Skills Centre, we love encouraging creativity, innovation and practical skills through our competitions and creative challenges.
Throughout the year, we organise and support a variety of competitions for students, teachers and our wider textiles community. From national student competitions to smaller creative challenges through our social media channels, our aim is to inspire participation, celebrate achievement and showcase the fantastic work happening in textiles education.
Celebrating Young Textile Talent
Our annual student textiles competition has run successfully for three years, providing opportunities for young people to explore their creativity, develop practical skills and showcase their talents.
These competitions have been generously supported by Janome UK and Specialist Crafts, helping us recognise and reward the achievements of young textile designers and makers.
We also run occasional creative challenges and competitions through our social media channels, encouraging our community to share ideas, experiment with techniques and celebrate their creativity.
Prinfab Competition
Design to Print Competition for Schools
Prinfab × Textile Skills Centre Textile Design Competition
Your students could see their artwork printed onto fabric! We’re excited to offer UK schools the chance to enter our Design to Print Competition, in partnership with Prinfab, the UK’s leading digital fabric printer. The winning school/student will have 3 metres of their artwork printed onto fabric by Prinfab, plus a free short online course from Textile Skills Centre.

Looking Ahead to 2027 – An Exciting New Collaboration!
Textiles meets Food Technology!
In 2027, we're doing something a little different!
We're joining forces with Food Teachers for an exciting new competition aimed at Key Stage 3 students, bringing together creativity, design and practical skills across two subject areas.
The competition will culminate in a special final at Leith's School of Food and Wine, providing a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their talents.
