Angela Walker
Associate: Textiles Skills Centre
MA Art and Fashion
Angela has been involved in the Textile Skills Centre student competition over the last 2 years and has delivered the Fibre and Weaving Tea n’ Chat. She also contributes via research, facilitating with things like break-out groups on our exam sessions etc. She also works as a Textiles, Art and Design & Technology Teacher (the latter has included Product Design, Photography and Graphics plus also teaching some French KS3-4 and Politics at A’Level).
Angela’s initial career was in the world of Politics and Law having worked in both the Houses of Parliament, the EU and corporates. Within the latter she has worked as a Quality Control legal specialist and a Garment Tech for a fashion accessories brand.
Since moving into teaching Angela has run a number of workshops around her textile and fibre hobbies to include weaving (she keeps her own Angora rabbit to spin and weave from), dying, silk painting, tapestry, printing and embroidery as well as using her MHFA to facilitate some art therapy style sessions with mental health groups.
